NYC has cut millions of dollars from our community composting, reuse, and zero waste educational programs. At stake are all of GrowNYC’s Zero Waste programs: recycling education in public schools, food scrap collections, and Stop ‘n’ Swap community reuse exchanges. These vital programs educate our youth and turn New Yorkers’ waste into valuable resources – while diverting millions of pounds of materials from landfills.

Join GrowNYC’s call to Mayor Adams and the New York City Council to restore the funding to these indispensable programs in order to fight climate change, cut waste to landfills, and educate the next generation of environmental leaders in our schools. Add your voice. Sign and share our petition www.grownyc.org/petition.

Eco-Movie Nights

We recommend:

  • Gather: Gather is an intimate portrait of the growing movement amongst Native Americans to reclaim their spiritual, political and cultural identities through food sovereignty, while battling the trauma of centuries of genocide.

  • My Octopus Teacher: A filmmaker forges an unusual friendship with an octopus living in a South African kelp forest, learning as the animal shares the mysteries of her world.

  • WALL-E: WALL•E (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) is the last robot left on Earth, programmed to clean up the planet, one trash cube at a time. However, after 700 years, he’s developed one little glitch—a personality. He’s extremely curious, highly inquisitive, and a little lonely.
